Book Town
Calonge, Poble de Llibres is the first permanent book town in Catalonia.
Launched in 2021 with the aim of revitalising the town’s cultural, social and economic life, the project brings together six bookshops, each with its own distinct character. Two are general bookshops – Rals Llibres and Espai Libelista – alongside four more specialised ones: La Fàbrica, Calonge Còmics, La Històrica and La Botiga dels Fils.
Today, Calonge, Poble de Llibres has established itself as a cultural benchmark in the Girona region. It has also become a vibrant town that nurtures creativity, knowledge and social transformation, while connecting its history and identity with books and culture.
Throughout the year, Calonge, Poble de Llibres offers a diverse cultural programme open to all, including book launches, readings, concerts, talks, markets and many other activities that fill its streets and spaces with life and culture.

Book Town
Calonge, Poble de Llibres is part of the International Association of Booktowns, a global network that brings together towns around the world that have books at the heart of their cultural identity. This membership recognises Calonge as a permanent book town and strengthens its commitment to promoting reading, culture and international collaboration with other book towns.

The Calonge, Poble de Llibres Writing School is an initiative that promotes reading and writing in the area through workshops and creative activities. It aims to promote knowledge, creativity and the connection between education and culture. The programme includes workshops and short literary sessions led by writer Alba Dalmau, offering practical tools to develop writing skills and unlock creativity, and has been very well received by participants.

The Calonge, Poble de Llibres educational project promotes reading and writing through activities aimed at schools and families. It also encourages learning, creativity and a connection with local culture.
Two resource packs are currently available (for primary and secondary levels), designed to explore Calonge, Poble de Llibres and its bookshops through engaging and enjoyable activities. They can be used by schools as a complementary activity or completed as a family during a visit.
These materials are available free of charge to all schools and the general public. They can be requested by emailing pobledellibres@calonge.cat. Further information and guidance are also available to help enrich visits to Calonge and Sant Antoni, including suggestions for exploring other points of interest.
