CYCLES AROUND LITERATURE
With this project, l’Ajuntament de Calonge wants to promote cultural, sustainable and quality tourism and revitalize the historic center so that all residents can enjoy it.
The cycles, which will have activities on the first weekend of each month and which are designed for all types of public, complement the regular cultural programming of the municipality and the activities developed by the bookstores of “Calonge, Town of books” .
This cycle will offer poetic recitals with wine tasting in emblematic spaces of the old town of Calonge such as the Castle or the Carmel Chapel. A different experience, where the personality and lyrics of the various Catalan poets will be intertwined in a particular way with the wines of the D.O. Empordà accompanied by the pairing of La Gastronòmica, specialists in food and wine experiences.
The series ‘Homenéts’ invites us to learn about Josep Pla’s Homenots from a current perspective in the voice of his grandchildren or relatives who form a 3rd generation of illustrious Catalans. With the complicity of planian writers such as Jordi Amat, Adrià Pujol or Joan Safont, and with the help of Carme Fenoll, this cycle proposes a journey from the past to the present and from the present to the past to discover Homenots such as Josep Trueta, Francesc Cambó, Joan Maragall, Salvador Espriu and Vicenç Vives.
Getting to know the 7 bookstores in Calonge is to do so with the help of people who are not booksellers by trade but who, due to their professional career and their outstanding career in another field, are specialists in books. Each of these prescribers will offer us a different and unique view of the route through the 7 bookstores. Part of the program are Ada Parellada, Eva Piquer, Jordi Basté and Jordi Amat, among others, who will make literary recommendations.
With this cycle, a series of talks and small concerts are proposed that combine dialogues, readings and musical performances. We will discover the artist and his work with content that relates music to literature, either through the work of the musicians themselves, or through their literary references.
The cycle aims to offer all kinds of events related to the already well-established literature, while inviting figures, both national and international, with a long literary career that, due to their history, is essential to know their work. The format will be adapted to each case, from the in-person visit of the writer (women and men), to debates and talks about authors by specialists, as well as recitals, theatrical productions or concerts about the authors’ work .
We open the curtain on Calonge Town of Books with a cycle that seeks the complicity between the art of literature and the performing arts. Books take the stage to inspire proposals for circus, dance, theater and new disciplines that drink from the fusion of these to show the influence that a poem, a novel, an essay or a short verse have on the panorama of the contemporary scene.
A cycle that aims to introduce children to Catalan literary wealth through several sessions where both classic authors and the latest publishing news will be presented. The proposed activities are for all ages and in various formats: story times, book presentations, comics or theater workshops.
